Zynaptiq BALANCE – Adaptive Spectral Balancer for Mix and Master Bus
€149.00 Original price was: €149.00.€59.99Current price is: €59.99.
Zynaptiq BALANCE rebalances a whole cue, stem or master against a target curve you shape with Slope, Weighting, Bass and Air controls. With 16-channel support and just 3 samples of latency, it is built for fast, musical decisions on the scoring stage and in the mix room.
Every composer knows the moment: the orchestra is recorded, the synths are layered, the percussion is placed, and yet the cue as a whole leans too dark, too thin or too harsh. Reaching for a conventional equaliser at that point usually means an hour of narrow notches and second-guessing. Zynaptiq BALANCE takes the opposite route. It is an adaptive balancing equaliser that reads the overall frequency distribution of your audio and gently steers it toward a target curve you define. For film, television and game work, where stems must sit together quickly under a deadline, that big-picture approach is precisely the point.
A Target Curve Instead of a Dozen Bands
The workflow begins with range, not with bands. A 12dB/octave low-cut and high-cut filter set the boundaries of the material you want BALANCE to consider, and a spectrum tracking mode — Hold, Track or Infinite — decides how the analysis follows your programme. From there, four controls do the musical work. Slope tilts the broad balance, Weighting shifts where the emphasis falls, and Bass and Air address the foundation and the top octave directly. The large central EQ Amount dial then sets how firmly the correction is applied, so a full rebalancing and a barely-there polish are separated by a single gesture.
Because the wet gain is matched to input loudness and scaled automatically by the EQ Amount, comparisons stay honest. You hear the change in balance, not a change in volume fooling you into thinking the cue improved. That matters on a master bus, where loudness bias is the oldest trap in the room, and it matters just as much when you are checking a dialogue, music and effects stem against the full mix late at night.
Sound, Latency and the Immersive Bus
Under the surface, BALANCE uses custom-engineered minimum-phase filtering and keeps latency down to 3 samples, with low CPU demand. That combination makes it safe to leave on the master bus while you are still writing, rather than treating it as a final-stage tool you only dare to open at mixdown. Optional double-precision processing is available when you want the cleanest possible path for a delivered master.
Channel count is where this processor quietly becomes essential for modern scoring work. Support for up to 16 channels covers immersive and surround layouts without workarounds, so the same balancing logic you trust in stereo follows the cue into larger formats. The analyser, accelerated with Metal or Direct3D, displays input, output, target curve and gain change in real time, giving you a clear visual account of what the adaptive processing is actually doing moment by moment.
Working With Cues, Stems and Masters
In practice, composers will find three natural homes for BALANCE. On a pre-mixed stem — strings recorded in one space, brass in another — it can place each source in its own spectral territory near-instantly, before detailed EQ work begins. On a full mix, it offers a confident, broad rebalance when a director asks for a cue that feels warmer or more open without wanting any single instrument changed. And on finished recordings that already sound good, it supplies that final degree of cohesion mastering engineers chase.
The interface supports both temperaments. The full view presents the analyser and every control for deliberate work, while the compact EASY view reduces the plugin to its essentials when you simply want to set a direction and keep writing. The fully vectorised, scalable user interface stays legible on any display, from a laptop on a scoring stage to a large mix-room monitor.
Facts and Requirements
Zynaptiq BALANCE provides adaptive balancing EQ with Slope, Weighting, Bass and Air target controls, 12dB/octave low-cut and high-cut filters, Hold, Track and Infinite spectrum tracking modes, and up to 16 channels of processing at 3 samples of latency. Zynaptiq software uses PACE copy protection, so a free iLok.com account is required, with machine or dongle activation as you prefer. Each customer receives an individual licence key, and download links and licence details arrive by email after checkout. At 60% off the regular price of €149, it is an unusually affordable way to add a genuine master-bus instrument to a composer’s toolkit.
