Cableguys ShaperBox Bundle – Drawn LFO Modulation for Volume, Time, Filter, Pan and Width
€39.99
A multi-effect built around drawn LFO shapes, with shapers for volume, filtering, panning, stereo width and time itself. It turns static loops, pads and percussion into rhythmically moving material, which is why it has become a fixture in electronic and hybrid scoring.
The cableguys shaperbox bundle is organised around a single idea: modulation shapes should be drawn, not selected from a list. Its custom LFO designer lets you draw any shape by hand, then apply that shape to volume, filtering, panning, width or time. For a composer, that is a way of writing rhythm into a sound that has none. A sustained string pad, a synth drone or a recorded texture can be given an exact pulse that matches the edit of a scene, rather than the nearest available preset pattern.
Modulation You Draw Yourself
VolumeShaper handles sidechain-style ducking, rhythmic gating and precise volume modulation. FilterShaper Core provides dynamic filtering with drawable LFOs for sweeps and morphing textures. PanShaper automates panning for stereo motion, and WidthShaper controls the stereo image, tightening mono bass or pushing pads wider. TimeShaper warps time with tape stops, stutters, glitch repeats and reverse effects, all synced to the beat. Each of these is a recognisable scoring device: the ducking pulse under a chase, the filter opening as a scene brightens, the tape stop that lands on a cut.
Multiband Control and Audio-Reactive Envelopes
What separates ShaperBox from a set of simple LFO utilities is that each shaper can be applied to specific frequency bands only. Duck the low end of a pad against a kick while leaving its top untouched, gate only the midrange of a loop, or widen only the high frequencies of a texture. In dense hybrid cues, where orchestral samples, synths and percussion compete for the same space, that band-limited movement creates clarity without removing material.
Envelope followers make the effects react to the dynamics of the audio itself in real time, so a shaper can follow a performance rather than a tempo grid. MIDI triggering allows the effects to be performed and automated live, and tempo sync keeps rhythmic effects locked to the session. The interface is resizable, and a library of LFO presets is included alongside the ability to save your own shapes, which encourages building a personal library of pulses and gestures across a series or film.
Scoring Uses
Consider a tension cue built from a single sustained chord. VolumeShaper gives it a heartbeat, FilterShaper Core slowly opens it as the scene escalates, WidthShaper pushes it wider at the reveal, and TimeShaper stutters it into the cut to black. Nothing has been re-recorded; the movement was drawn. That is the bundle’s real value to media composers, whose revisions often consist of making existing material feel more urgent, more spacious or more broken without a new session.
Compatibility
The source lists macOS and Windows compatibility in VST, AU and AAX formats, working in all major DAWs including FL Studio, Ableton Live, Logic Pro, Cubase and Studio One. Delivery is instant, with a licence key supplied. Check the official Cableguys site for trial availability, as the source suggests.
Five shapers, one drawing surface, and multiband control over all of them. For composers whose scores depend on movement as much as harmony, this is a small bundle that changes how almost any source sound behaves.
One underrated advantage is recall across a long production. Because the shapes you draw are saved with the session and can be stored as your own presets, a pulse designed for episode one can be recalled exactly in episode eight, widened slightly for a finale, then reused as the starting point for a trailer cutdown. That kind of continuity is how a score develops a rhythmic fingerprint. It also makes collaboration easier: a music editor or assistant opening your session sees the movement written into the plugin rather than scattered across hundreds of automation breakpoints, and can adjust the shape in one place instead of hunting through a timeline.
