4Front TruePianos – Lightweight Responsive Piano with Five Modules
€59.99 Original price was: €59.99.€39.99Current price is: €39.99.
4Front TruePianos prioritises the connection between player and instrument, combining hybrid sound generation with five piano modules, sympathetic resonance and multi-core efficiency. It delivers expressive, real-time piano without a multi-gigabyte library or heavy system load.
Many virtual pianos compete on library size. 4Front TruePianos competes on response. Its central goal is the connection between the musician and the instrument — the feeling that a note answers the hand immediately and naturally — achieved by combining different sound-generation technologies where each works best: sampling where samples give the desired result, other techniques where a purely sample-based design would reduce flexibility. The result is a professional piano that stays efficient in CPU and memory, a quality composers running large templates will appreciate immediately.
Five Modules, Distinct Characters
The full version contains five piano modules, each an interpretation with its own tonal character and multiple presets. Module names TruePianos has historically included — Amber, Sapphire, Diamond, Emerald and Atlantis — signal the philosophy: the developer deliberately avoids claiming an exact recreation of one commercial acoustic piano, instead designing characters that can be combined and chosen for the music. Different modules suit different writing, from solo performance to a piano that must sit inside a dense arrangement without fighting it.
That variety matters in scoring. A felt-like intimacy for a dialogue scene, a brighter voice for a montage, a fuller character for a featured piano moment — switching module and preset changes the casting of the part while the playing experience stays consistent, which keeps writing fast when a cue moves through several emotional registers.
Realism Features: Resonance and Polyphony
Sympathetic Resonance recreates a defining behaviour of the acoustic instrument: strings do not behave independently, and notes played or sustained cause others to resonate in sympathy. Enabled from the options screen, it adds the interaction between notes that expressive performances — classical writing, romantic piano, cinematic sustain-pedal passages — depend on for believability.
An Increased Polyphony option provides additional headroom for large chords, fast arpeggios and dense arrangements, at the cost of additional CPU. Processing can be distributed across multiple CPU cores, and the instrument is optimised for real-time playing, where the interval between key and sound defines whether a performance feels connected. Built-in reverb adds space for standalone playing or a complete in-plugin sound, while external DAW effects remain available for production work.
Matched to Your Keyboard
A virtual piano only feels natural when its response matches the controller in front of you. TruePianos provides controls for keyboard sensitivity, dynamic response, note release time, tuning and volume, so a lightweight synth-action keyboard and an 88-key weighted hammer-action controller can each be accommodated. Soft playing produces a gentler response, stronger velocity a brighter and more forceful character, and once the response is dialled in, the settings can be saved as the default state.
TruePianos 2.0 and Requirements
The 2.0 generation modernises the instrument. On macOS it is officially available with native Apple Silicon support, Retina display support, VST3, Audio Unit v3 and AAX, a rewritten audio engine, improved performance and macOS Tahoe support. On Windows, 2.0 is currently a public beta adding high-resolution display support, VST3, native Windows ARM64 support, a rewritten engine and significantly improved performance; it is backward compatible with 1.x projects, though projects saved in 2.0 are not backward compatible with 1.x.
Requirements remain remarkably light: Windows 7 or later including Windows 11, or macOS 10.13 or later, with a minimum of 384 MB free RAM and 512 MB or more recommended — the Windows recommendation is a 2.2 GHz or faster processor under Windows 10/11 64-bit. Standalone versions are available, activation is serial-code based and can work without an internet connection. At €39.99, 33% below the regular price, TruePianos suits live-performance laptops, older studio computers and any template where an expressive piano must not arrive with a heavy footprint.
