AIR DrumSynth – Eight-Engine Percussion Synthesizer and Kit Builder
€99.99 Original price was: €99.99.€49.99Current price is: €49.99.
AIR DrumSynth creates percussion from synthesis rather than samples, with eight dedicated engines — Kick, Snare, Clap, Hi-Hat, Tom, Percussion, Crash and Ride — combining FM, analog modelling and physical modelling. Processing, a mixer and 52 preset kits complete the kit-building environment.
Sampled drums are fast, but they are also shared: the same kick that anchors your cue anchors thousands of other productions. AIR DrumSynth offers the alternative of building percussion from synthesis, with eight dedicated engines — Kick, Snare, Clap, Hi-Hat, Tom, Percussion, Crash and Ride — each designed around the characteristics of its instrument rather than forcing one generic architecture to imitate everything. For composers working in electronic, hybrid and cinematic styles, that means a kit can be shaped to the picture instead of chosen from a folder.
Eight Engines, Three Synthesis Methods
The architecture combines FM synthesis, analog modelling and physical modelling. FM generates complex harmonics and metallic textures, valuable for cymbals, hats and experimental percussion. Analog modelling supplies the familiar electronic drum-machine character behind classic kicks, snares and toms. Physical modelling simulates aspects of how physical percussion responds, while remaining fully editable. Moving between those methods per engine gives DrumSynth a wider sonic range than a basic sample-based machine.
The individual engines invite specific thinking. The Kick engine builds deep electronic kicks, punchy house and techno kicks, short hip-hop kicks and synthetic 808-style percussion that can be tuned to the cue. The Snare engine ranges from tight electronic snares to aggressive, noisy designs. The Clap engine covers classic and wide modern claps, while the Hi-Hat engine handles closed and open-style hats and bright rhythmic layers. Tom and Percussion engines add pitched and unusual rhythmic elements — particularly useful in techno, house and cinematic percussion — and the Crash and Ride engines complete the kit with synthesisable cymbals.
Processing, Mixer and Your Own Library
Designed sounds are finished inside the instrument. The processing collection includes a Transient Shaper for attack emphasis, Tuning, EQ, Compression, Reverb — with Hall, Stadium, Room and Abstract modes documented — and Delay for turning simple hits into rhythmic patterns. A dedicated mixer provides independent control over the elements, so the kit balances as a kit before it ever reaches the DAW mixer.
Custom creations can be saved into the onboard user preset slots, including use of the classic One-Shot workflow for triggering hits from a DAW, keyboard or pads. Over a season of work, that builds a personal library of kicks, snares, hats, percussion and cymbals fitted to your production style — an asset no sample pack can sell to anyone else. Producers who need a starting point instead get 52 preset kits, ranging from classic electronic drum-machine flavours to contemporary synthesized percussion, each fully editable.
Uses and Compatibility
DrumSynth suits electronic music, hip-hop, trap, techno, house, pop, cinematic percussion and experimental sound design; film and game composers in particular will value kits that can be retuned and reshaped per scene rather than replaced. It should not be confused with AIR DrumSynth 500, a separate older product with its own library and architecture — this is the eight-engine DrumSynth.
System requirements list Windows 10 or 11 with a dual-core 2.5 GHz CPU, 4 GB RAM with 8 GB recommended and 200 MB free disk space, or macOS 12 through macOS 15 with the same processor and memory guidance and 392 MB free disk space. Formats are VST2 and VST3 and AAX, plus Audio Unit on macOS. At €49.99, 50% below the regular €99.99 price, DrumSynth provides a complete environment for composers who would rather design their drums than audition other people’s.
The one-shot mindset also suits how media music is actually assembled. Hits are placed against picture — a logo sting, a transition, a percussive accent under a cut — and a synthesized hit can be reshaped for each placement in a way a fixed recording cannot. Shorten the decay for a fast montage, darken the cymbal for a night scene, retune the tom to the cue’s key: the engines make those adjustments at the source.
